As you know, HQ Autosport specializes in European automobile service and repair. This includes your BMW or other European make’s suspension. The suspension on your European automobile is designed to help you control the vehicle whether it is going straight or you are turning it. If it has been 30,000 miles since you’ve had the suspension inspected, you may notice one or more of the following signs of a bad suspension.
Extremely Bumpy Ride
An extremely bumpy ride is an indication that the struts and shocks on your European automobile need to be replaced. Generally, these parts last anywhere from 30,000 miles to 50,000 miles. If it has been at least this long since you’ve had new struts and shocks put on your vehicle and your ride is extremely uncomfortable, it’s definitely time to replace these suspension parts.
Low-Seated Corner
Another indication that your European automobile has a suspension problem is a low-seated corner. What we mean by this is that your automobile sits lower on one wheel. This is an indication that you have broken a suspension spring. You may also hear the wheel clunk when you drive over bumps. It’s important to replace the broken spring as soon as possible.
Momentum Motion
Another sign that your European automobile needs new stress and shocks is feeling your vehicle’s momentum motion. What we mean by this is your BMW will dive forward when you stop, lean backward when you accelerate, and tilt to the side when you turn corners.
Oily Shock Absorbers
A definite sign that your shock absorbers are too old is if they have oil on them. You can reach up behind your rear wheels to feel the shock absorbers. If they feel oily, they are leaking their internal fluid. This may also explain why your ride has been so bumpy lately.
Pulling to the Side
Plan to have your BMW or other European automobile aligned every two years. Wheel alignment is crucial to the control of the vehicle as well as to tire tread wear and tear. If your vehicle pulls to the side when you are steering straight ahead, your wheels are out of alignment.
Steering Difficulties
Speaking of steering, if your BMW is difficult to steer, you’ve got a problem with the steering system. This could be low power steering fluid, a malfunctioning power steering pump, or another steering issue.
Call HQ Autosport in Escondido, CA, today if your BMW or other European automobile is experiencing any of the problems listed above. We will inspect your suspension and make any necessary repairs.
